In 2022, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation (Parks) broke ground on Phase I of the Vulture Mountains Recreation Area in the far west valley outside Wickenburg. Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plan for a 3.3-acre recreational vehicle park on the south side of Roswell on Tuesday evening. The owner, Jason Garcia, intends to allow up to 50 RVs to stay at the site in the 1500 block of South Sunset Avenue. The children’s Christian camp has hosted an average of 9,000 campers and 10,000 guests each year and is looking to add a new dining hall, maintenance barn, family cabins, amenities and a welcome center. Officials with Kenlake State Resort Park, Governor Andy Beshear and Parks Commissioner Russ Meyer announced Wednesday that a $9.3 million renovation is coming as an improvement to the camping experience.
