A developer has proposed converting the former Carolina Beach Family Campground site in New Hanover County, North Carolina, into an RV park with up to 118 spaces. Burgess Corporation has filed permits for an initial 15 sites on the 11.44-acre property, part of a larger master plan currently under county review after being paused in June for further evaluation. The site operated as a campground for more than 60 years before closing in 2020 due to environmental and safety violations, and was listed for sale at nearly $5 million before its price was reduced to under $4 million.
The proposal reflects continued interest in repurposing former campground land for RV development, particularly in coastal areas with existing recreational vehicle infrastructure nearby.
