  Carteret County commissioners voted 7-0 Monday night to rezone two parcels totaling 4.72 acres at 307 Core Creek Road and 122 RV Park Drive near Beaufort from B-2 (Marine Business District) and RCP (Recreational Camper Park District) to RCP-CZ (Recreational Camper Park Conditional Zoning District). Deschutes County is spreading its wings a little bit by exploring the construction of three new sites for RV and tent camping within the county. The only RV campsite the county operates is at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. That site accommodates 105 RV slots and is usually full to overflowing, especially during the county fair in August. Riverfront RV Resort on Riverfront Drive is the newest attraction to open along the Arkansas River in Fort Smith. At the resort’s dedication Thursday (Nov. 16), Rick Griffin said the resort was a result of many years and studying, planning and dreaming. A company’s proposal for 90 year-round portable micro-cabin campsites in a rural part of northwestern Frederick County was greenlighted by the Board of Supervisors last week. Getaway House Inc.’s conditional-use permit (CUP) request to allow the company to operate a micro-cabin campground on 430 acres close to the border with Berkeley County, West Virginia, was approved on a 6-1 vote. The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation announces only short-term camping will be offered at Breezy Point Beach & Campground for the 2024 season. After careful consideration, Breezy Point will permanently transition to a daily camping model and seasonal camping will be discontinued. This permanent change will allow more availability of campsites for Calvert County residents and visitors to experience camping at Breezy Point.
