Modern America Campgrounds Acquired Thomas Point Beach and Campground in Brunswick, ME

Thomas Point Beach & Campground by Modern America Campgrounds

Thomas Point Beach and Campground in Brunswick has been sold to Modern America Campgrounds.

The property, renowned for hosting events such as the Maine Highland Games and various music festivals, has been in private ownership by the same family since it was purchased by Harry and Marion Crooker in 1956.

“At Modern America Campgrounds, we are committed to preserving the traditions that make Thomas Point so special while investing in various improvements to enhance your experience,” Modern Camping America said in an announcement on its website. “From upgrading facilities to expanding recreational areas, our goal is to make camping at Thomas Point better than it has ever been.”

The company, which owns campgrounds across New England and New York, said to stay tuned for updates on the enhancements it has in store.

Some events that had been scheduled to happen at Thomas Point Beach over the summer, like Maine Folk Festival and Point Reggae Arts and Music Festival, have already been cancelled, citing the sale as the reason for the cancellation.

“We plan to explore options for the future,” Maine Folk Festival organizers said on the festival’s website. “Incredibly grateful to all that have supported our work.”

“Thomas Point Beach and Campground have been sold. Although we are sad we will not be gathering in celebration… We are honored and grateful for the experience we’ve shared,” the organizers of the Point Reggae Arts and Music Festival said on social media. “We hope to return in the future and will keep working towards supporting the free-spirited community of dreamers and creators we have come to represent.”
