Wyldstay Smoky Mountains opens in Jefferson County, bringing glamping to Douglas Lake. This $1.5M venture promises job creation and boosts regional tourism.
Visit Jefferson County announced the opening of a “luxury” campground along Douglas Lake.
According to Visit Jefferson County, Wyldstay Smoky Mountains invested $1.5 million to open the glamping retreat.
Wyldstay was created by Bushtec, which makes “luxury” safari tents and canvas structures. The company is now working on phase two of the project and hopes to open more sites in the area in 2026.
The company created Wyldstay with plans to introduce high-quality glamping destinations across the United States. There are locations in Greenville and the Grand Canyon and they plan to open as many as 10 within the next five years.
“Creating Wyldstay Smoky Mountains has been a dream rooted in our love for this land,” said founders Cody and Bridget Farmer in a press release. “Partnering with the Wyldstay brand and Bushtec Safari allowed us to bring that dream to life at a level we never imagined. We’re excited to share the tranquility of this place with guests from near and far.”
Visit Jefferson County said the “luxury” campground creates more lodging options, supports job creation and strengthens regional tourism connections.
The campground is positioned between the county’s lakeside communities and the high-traffic tourism areas of Sevier County.
