This is the time of year when you want to get outdoors in Louisiana. From Holly Beach along the coast to Indian Creek in the state’s midsection to Caddo Lake in Louisiana’s northwestern corner, people from around the state and around the nation are taking advantage of Louisiana’s “primetime” for outdoor activity.
Actually, the climate of Louisiana lends itself to being outdoors most of the year. The problem with the late spring, summer, and early fall months usually boils down to heat. We experience some of our hottest days during that time of the year and the humidity can be downright oppressive too.
But when October hits, that’s when the desire to hook up the RV and head for the campgrounds really starts to kick in across The Boot. In fact, I’d be willing to bet you’d have trouble finding a spot at a campground this weekend. Not only will the weather be wonderful but most campgrounds are hosting Halloween parties and trick-or-treating for campers and their kids.
Speaking of trick-or-treating, by the time Halloween rolls around next year there should be another new campground facility for families who want to spend some time with nature. This new campground will carry a name that is quite familiar to most campers.
It was announced earlier this week that LeBleu Lakes Resort had been acquired by new owners and those new owners are going to transition that property into a Jellystone Park campground. Jellystone Park Campgrounds are scattered across the country. Currently, there is a Jellystone Park located in Robert, Louisiana. This new facility will be near Lake Charles.
In addition to campsites, the park will offer guests RV hookups and cabin accommodations. The facility will also have a splash pad, waterslides, mini-golf, and a few new attractions. According to reports the Lake Charles location of Jellystone Park will also feature gem mining, a resort-style pool, a water obstacle course, and a stage for live entertainment.
Those behind the project are hopeful to have renovations to the former LeBleu Lakes RV Resort completed as early as next summer so the facility should be ready for campers who want to enjoy the weather when it cools off next fall. The plan is for the park to be open year-round.
