The Georgetown-Scott County Planning Commission approved the applications for an RV Park and an Airstream dealership and denied a zone change application at their January meeting. The commission unanimously approved the preliminary development plan for a 75-stall RV Park with an entrance at 3036 Paris Pike, between Patriot RV and Bluegrass RV Storage. One of the conditions for approval is that the final development plan must have a lighting plan, and that all lighting needs to be directed away from the properties adjoining it, planner Elise Ketz said. No buildings are included in the plan, but 137,065 square feet of pavement for the stalls and interior roads will be installed.
The commission unanimously approved the preliminary development plan for a 12,123 square foot Woodland Airstream dealership at 120 Wahland Path, right next to the I-75 Exit 125 on ramp, and across the street from the Camping World dealership. Woodland Airstream sells new and used RV’s and provides service. The dealership will have 30 passenger vehicle spaces and 79 display spaces.
The commission denied a zoning map amendment to change a 2.28 acre parcel at the back of Crestlawn Cemetery at 1879 Lexington Road from A-1 agricultural zoning to I-2 industrial zoning. The owners of the neighboring property, which produces asphalt, wanted to lease the plot for use as equipment storage. The staff of the planning commission recommended denial of the amendment, as it is not in keeping with the comprehensive plan or the future land use map for that part of the county, planning director Joe Kane said. The commission unanimously denied the amendment.
The commission also discussed a change to the bylaws that would cap the amount of time that each member of the public could speak at meetings to three minutes. No action was taken.
Commission members Brad Green, David Vest, and Charlie Mifflin were absent, and Harold Dean Jessie arrived 26 minutes late, in time to approve the RV park.
