Morton Township Michigan considers RV park in Canadian Lakes area

Morton Township officials are considering the development of a 45-acre recreational vehicle park in Canadian Lakes.

Freshwater Hospitality Consulting, LLC presented a proposal to the township board during its meeting on Oct. 11.

According to the proposal, the recreational vehicle park, at 8858 105th Ave., Stanwood, will provide rental spaces for recreational vehicles, park model homes or tent set-ups.

Park model homes, although considered recreational vehicles, are primarily designed for long-term or permanent placement at a destination where an RV or mobile home is allowed.

The planned facility will include additional structures for public recreation including restrooms and bathhouses, a gift and/or food shop, a public gathering space, aquatic facilities and space for administration and maintenance.

Also included in the plan is private waste collection from individual users and dumpsters for public use, individual hookups for sewage disposal and access to a central dump station. Water service will be provided through wells and water pumps with hydropneumatics storage systems, testing and certification in compliance with the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act.

The applicant is requesting a vehicle site pad density of 12-15 sites per acre.

The Morton Township Planning Commission will consider site plan approval for the project during its meeting at 5 p.m., Nov. 11 at the Morton Township Hall, 290 W. Main St., Mecosta.
