Developer Opens Campground on Former Race Track in Rogersville, Tennessee

Cedar Lane

Camping is growing more and more popular, and Rogersville (Tenn.) has a new campground that will bring visitors to the area, according to The Rogersville Review.

Cedar Lane Campground is located at 268 Racetrack Road. Owners Wes and Caitlin Manis started the operation about a year ago. Wes is a Hawkins County native, growing up in the Persia community.

Wes explained, “We have 32 acres here. We plan on developing about 42 camping spots. We have 19 wooded acres that we plan on having for “glamping and tree houses.”

The campground is where the Rogersville Raceway was once located. Dirt track cars and later go-karts raced at the track. It had become overgrown since the track shut down.

Wes recalled, “We bought the property the day it came up for sale. I looked at it and thought, ‘I see a campground.’ It’s there, it just needed to be built! It was grown up with pine thickets; we cleaned it all up.”
