The Royal Gorge Field Office announced that it will reopen its Sand Gulch campground on March 1, having finished a project to increase available sites and improve the visitor experience. KOA announced plans to make improvements and changes to their Monroe County campground location in the coming years, developments it said would include new cabins and amenities, among other additions. According to a Facebook post from the business, the “major improvements” include two pools, a splash pad, pool cabanas, a concessions area and a mini golf course. Pearl Lake Campgrounds and RV resort is planning an expansion, which will offer more recreational vehicles and vacation home sites. The South Beloit City Council on Monday approved the first reading of a Planned Unit Development (PUD) agreement as well as a special use permit for the planned expansion.
