New beginnings are coming to Gulfport. Under a ray of sunshine, workers are bringing life to Luxury RV Resort. The resort is taking form on 14 acres of land at the corner of Cowan Road and Highway 90. A $4.85 million project has started to rebuild the Lakeview Campground in Sibley State Park and to upgrade its historic buildings, as well as those in the Cedar Hill day use area. Work is getting underway to rebuild one of the most popular campgrounds in the state park system with a modern, more open and spacious version of the original while preserving its historic character. Ashley and Sara Pendergrass have recently opened the Bayou Glade RV Park, located at 3256 Highway 101 in Bakersfield, directly across from the Assembly of God church building on the south side of town. The campground is located near several Norfork Lake accesses and offers seven spacious, grassy RV sites with full-hookups (water, electric, sewer). There are three pull-thru and four back-in sites.   Carteret County commissioners voted 7-0 Monday night to rezone two parcels totaling 4.72 acres at 307 Core Creek Road and 122 RV Park Drive near Beaufort from B-2 (Marine Business District) and RCP (Recreational Camper Park District) to RCP-CZ (Recreational Camper Park Conditional Zoning District). The board acted during its regular monthly session in its meeting room in the administration building on Courthouse Square. The vote followed a public hearing during which no one spoke. Deschutes County is spreading its wings a little bit by exploring the construction of three new sites for RV and tent camping within the county. The only RV campsite the county operates is at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. That site accommodates 105 RV slots and is usually full to overflowing, especially during the county fair in August. Riverfront RV Resort on Riverfront Drive is the newest attraction to open along the Arkansas River in Fort Smith. At the resort’s dedication Thursday (Nov. 16), Rick Griffin said the resort was a result of many years and studying, planning and dreaming. When the 27-acre facility, owned by Griffin and Phil White, was originally pitched to the Fort Smith Central Business Improvement District (CBID) in 2021, it was estimated to cost about $2.5 million to develop.   Drivers traveling on Interstate 380 likely have noticed the grading equipment moving dirt at a site east of the interstate and north of 120th St. NE near Swisher.
