The owner of Conneaut Lake Park apparently wants to make it into a family recreational vehicle (RV) park. Keldon Holdings LLC is proposing to add more than 460 recreational vehicle sites to property plus related facilities as well as recreational facilities. But, to do the expansion the way Keldon has proposed, it needs approval from the Summit Township Zoning Hearing Board. After extended discussion about dust control Tuesday, the Brown County Board unanimously approved a conditional use permit application filed by Brian Domeier to allow expansion of Shirley’s Park and Country Retreat from 24 to 70 campsites. A condition added to the application requires 300 feet of gravel road dust control for events with more than 100 people. Other conditions are recreational vehicles must have toilet and bathing facilities. If not, the operator would be required to provide a central building with such facilities. A proposed RV park along the Cowlitz River is moving forward after a county official approved key permits despite public opposition to the project. In early July, Cowlitz County Hearing Examiner Mark Scheibmeir OK’d the special use and shoreline permits and the campground and recreational facility preliminary site plan for the project, with conditions, following two public hearings the prior two months. “After careful consideration, I conclude that the public’s reasons for opposition do not overcome the factual presentation made in support of the requested permits,” Scheibmeir wrote in his…

Plans are unfolding to develop a high-end recreational vehicle (RV) resort in Fayetteville catering to Arkansas Razorback and outdoor recreation fans. A group of out-of-state investors closed a $1 million land purchase in August for 43.5 acres ($0.53 per square foot) west of Interstate 49 and south of Lowe’s at 3231 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The Boulder City Planning Commission approved a recommendation to the City Council at its Aug. 17 meeting that would amend the city’s master plan future land use map for a proposed recreational vehicle park and cabin rental facility. Commissioners Nate Lasoff, Lorene Krumm and Paul Matuska voted for the approval and Ernest Biacsi and Beth Bonnar voted against it.
