Outdoor enthusiasts will soon have a new place to park recreation vehicles in northern West Virginia.
State officials broke ground at Mylan Park Wednesday. The project will bring a state-of-the-art RV campground to Morgantown with nearly 170 sites along with cabins and a clubhouse, according to a news release from West Virginia Governor Jim Justice’s Office.
The news release said the $11 million project will repurpose a former mining site, utilizing $3.75 million from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization program.
State officials said investments into the park are set to exceed $150 million.
The park currently offers more than a dozen facilities, including athletic fields, recreation areas and event venues on 400 acres of land.
