The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, in conjunction with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, announced the construction of a 26-site campground along the Trail of the Coeur d\u2019Alenes. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The new tent-only campground will be located along the trail to enhance overnight access and promote sustainable recreation, a press release said. It is tailored for \u201cbikepackers,\u201d touring cyclists and adventurers who may also choose to fly into the nearby airport, or other travelers seeking a quiet overnight camping option. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis project is a great example of how we\u2019re creating more opportunities for Idahoans and visitors to connect with our state parks through unique camping experiences and ensuring these experiences are here for future generations,\u201d said Susan Buxton, IDPR director.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The new campground will feature secure bike parking, a shower house, potable water, E-bike charging and hammock posts. It is also near three communities that offer supplies, exploration and dining. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Stretching 73 miles across the Idaho Panhandle from Mullan to Plummer, the Trail of the Coeur d\u2019Alenes was named one of the nation\u2019s top 25 trails by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “The Trail of the Coeur d\u2019Alenes, developed through a landmark partnership with the Coeur d\u2019Alene Tribe, Union Pacific Railroad, the State of Idaho, and the U.S. Government, continues to stand as a model of collaborative recreation planning,” the release said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
