Fees on a number of Shoshone National Forest campgrounds will increase rise from $5 to $10 per single slot, under a proposal before the public.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also, the forest will start charging to stay at some currently free campgrounds. Extra charges may be levied for double spaces and\/or hookups.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Sunlight Ranger Cabin will see the highest hike, to $225 per night from the present $150 per night.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The additional income will enable the forest \u201cto keep the staff on those sites and maintain them,\u201d said Paul Rau, SNF outdoor recreation planner. \u201cSupplies are getting super expensive, and contracts for trash and pumping have seen dramatic increases.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The last fee changes occurred in 2006, so \u201cthey\u2019ve been static while inflation increased,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Public comments on the proposed increases will be accepted through Tuesday, Oct. 31, and can be emailed to Shoshone@usda.gov<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A new fee of $10 per night will be levied at three Meeteetse-area campgrounds \u2013 Deer Creek, Wood River and Jack Creek.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
