It might be preferable, however, for the facility to be privately owned and operated, he said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Parks and Recreation Director Luke Humphrey said the village is trying to gain as much information on the campground as it can, knowing it has \u201csignificant infrastructure needs.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We are trying to determine if it\u2019s best for the village to spend taxpayers\u2019 dollars on the campground, and how much that\u2019s going to be,\u201d he said. Or \u201cdoes it make sense to part with it and put it in the private sector\u2019s hands moving forward?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Smith said the village has put out a request for proposals to determine if anyone in the private sector would be willing to buy and operate the campground.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The village so far has received three proposals.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Humphrey said the village will interview all of those who submit proposals and pass the information to the village board for a decision.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">According to Humphrey, the site was used for another purpose, possibly as a trailer park, before it became a campground in 1997.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It was set up in individual spaces, utility-wise,\u201d Humphrey said. \u201cIt\u2019s also my understanding the current bathhouse is an old dentist\u2019s office that was moved there when the village assumed ownership of the property.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Lato, Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The infrastructure is original.
