Bond Project, Gorges State Park will open a family campground on Saturday, Oct. 29, according to the Division of Parks and Recreation. The 13-acre campground features five camper cabins, 14 campsites and 16 tent campsites. The campground also has a modern bathhouse.<\/p>\n<p>Brantley Construction began work on the campground in August 2020, but material and labor delays slowed the project, according to a news release from the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The new campground, completed this fall, will help meet the growing demand for outdoor recreation opportunities statewide, particularly state-of-the-art RV sites and cabins.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These facilities will serve visitors with varied camping preferences and allow them to experience this fantastic park in a new way. There\u2019s a lot to see here and staying on-site will make it easier to experience more during a visit.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The park\u2019s camper cabins offer power, A\/C, heat and sleeping for six in two separate rooms, including two sets of bunk beds and one double bed. RV sites have 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric service and water and sewer hookups. Pets are not allowed in cabins but are welcome at tent and RV campsites, the release says.<\/p>\n<p>Gorges State Park staff say they are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the new facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople have looked forward to this campground for a long time,\u201d said Gorges State Park Superintendent Kevin Bischof. \u201cThese facilities will serve visitors with varied camping preferences and allow them to experience this fantastic park in a new way. There\u2019s a lot to see here and staying on-site will make it easier to experience more during a visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prospective campers can make reservations for a site in the new campground at northcarolinastateparks.reserveamerica.com or by calling 877-722-6762.
